Chris Leach grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he started his apprenticeship as a pastry chef at the age of 15. A few years later, at the age of 19, Chris became the Head Pastry Chef and General Manager for a family-owned bake shop in Columbus’ historic German Village.
On a vacation to Seattle, Chris became entranced with the coffeehouse explosion that was happening and soon opened his own coffeehouse and bakery in Knoxville, Tennessee. But his love for the Pacific Northwest brought him back to Seattle several years later.
During his re-acquaintance with Seattle he worked as a Pastry Chef at the Famous Pacific Dessert Company and as a part-time baker at Bagel Oasis. He took that knowledge to Noah’s Bagels in 1997 and quickly became the Area Training Manager and finally District Manager for the company.
In 2008, Chris brought his entrepreneurial skills to Simon’s Fresh Carved Sandwiches and Espresso Bar. Chris was able to help this store earn its first profits and helped transition the store into its newest conception, Simon’s Naturally.
When he’s not working, Chris is traveling to the coast, the mountains or Washington’s wine country exploring these regions different AVA’s and food cultures. He’s also an avid hiker and long-distance runner. He and his partner of 20 years are proud to call the Central District their home.
